Sziget Festival: Which performances are we excited for?

Scritto da il 16 Maggio 2017

As you know, Radio Bocconi will be at Sziget Festival this summer and If you have the chance to go there as well, here are the performance where you’ll definitely find us. Just know that there are many more performances per day and that the line-up is not complete yet as many artists are still to be announced. However, this is just a little taste of what you can find at Sziget Festival, in hopes that you’ll want to buy a ticket and come have fun with us.

Wednesday 9th of August

The big event of the first Wednesday has to be P!NK. The American artist from Pennsylvania is not known for doing many festivals or concert, even less in the last few years, which is surprising when you count how many hits she had in the last 15 years. Her first albums M!ssundaztood and Try This were sold 17 millions times in the world. Couples albums after, U + Ur Hand is 9th of the Hot 100 Billboard Chart. In 2016 it is the big coming back for P!nk with “Just Like Fire” for the movie Alice Through the Looking Glass. Powerful songs from an artist, not only known for her musical talents but also for her great sense humour, stage presence and her engagement with several humanitarian causes.

Special advice: have a beer ready because you’ll want to raise it high when she’ll sing her powerful song “Raise Your Glass”.

Thursday 10th of August

Thursday, it was harder to pick just one act, but I’m going to choose the English band, The Vaccines for their Indi-rock English tunes, the perfect festival music. Just know that if you’re here for the good vibes, to feel free and mosh-pits, Wiz Khalifa is also playing that day and if you want something more chill and calm with great vocals, Tom Odell is here to charm you.

Friday 11th of August

On Friday I am torn between two acts: Rudimental and Danny Brown. Rudimental is an English group of electro-pop/Drum&Bass inspirations. They are known for their stage presence, getting the whole crowd to sing and dance all their international hits (Feel the Love, ‘Not Giving In”…). On the other hand, Danny Brown is one of my favourite rapper. All the way back from his hometown Detroit, USA, Brown changed the game by doing the opposite of every “old” rapper of the 2000: wearing skinny jeans, colouring the tip of his hair in green and rapping with a high-pitched voice. “XXX” is a super good mixtape and if you want to “turn up”, like he often says, Danny Brown is the one to go see live.

Saturday 12th of August

On Saturday, I plan to really feel in vacation by going to the Clean Bandit show. Clean Bandit is an electronic music from the UK composed of three members. You surely remember their viral tune “Rather Be” from a couple of years ago and this past month, you definitely sang in the club Rockabye featuring Anne-Marie. Anne-Marie is also having her own show at Sziget on that day, therefore we can hope that she will do a surprise appearance during the Clean-Bandit show.

Sunday 13th of August

The Headline of Sunday is the Chainsmokers (not need to introduce them) so I’m planning on going there just to take a selfie on the “But first, let me take a selfie” song. However, I’m especially excited for The Naked And Famous, from New Zealand and especially their song Young Blood that is, once again, a perfect festival song. Go to this set with your best friends and even just people you met at the Festival. The more, the better!

Monday 14th of August

On Monday don’t wake up too late! So many bands to see. From Bakermat to Flume or Don Diablo and Bassjackers. The headline of the day is Major Lazer. In other words, if you are a fan of electronic music, this is your day!

If you like rap (or Radio Bocconi), you’ll definitely find us at the Vince Staples show. Vinces Staples, is from Long Beach, California and will bring the Californian sun as well as the good West Coast Hip-Hop to you. His debut album, Summertime 06, is still one of my favourite album of the past decade.

Ps: No insolation problem at a Vinces Staples show, since he has this good habit of throwing waters on the crowd during his performances.

Tuesday 15th of August

Tuesday is sadly the last day of the festival (although after a week in a tent, I think many campers will be happy to go back to their bed). The grand finally of the festival is Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, two superstar DJ, that also ended the last Tomorrowland festival. However, if before that, you want to listen to some good English music, come find us at Alt-J, band that are planning to drop a new album this summer and therefore you’ll be one of the first crowd to hear new tunes from this super talented group.
